Arena Civic Theatre will present the musical Willy Wonka on Saturday October 13 at 7:30 pm and Sunday October 14 at 2 pm and the following weekend Friday October 19 at 7:30 pm with matinees Saturday October 20 and Sunday October 21 at 2 pm at the Shea Theater in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. Willy Wonka is based on the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory written by Roald Dahl in 1964, which has become a children’s classic.

Tickets can be purchased at the World Eye Bookshop in Greenfield, the Jones Library in Amherst, or reserved by calling the Shea Theater at (413) 863–2281. Ticket prices are $15 adults, $12 seniors/students, and $9 for children 12 years and under.
Willy Wonka is directed by Bob DuCharme with musical direction by Amy Roberts-Crawford and choreography by Melenie Reneris. Karen Hinds is costume designer and Mike Glazier is lighting designer. Jeanne Miller serves as Stage Manager. The cast features Jerry Marcanio (Royalston) as Willy Wonka, Cole Mathewson (Belchertown) as Charlie, and John Darrow (Southampton) as Grandpa Joe. The children who find the Golden Tickets are Tess Mathewson (Belchertown) as Veruca Salt, Stephanie Craven (South Hadley) as Violet Beauregarde, Wade Atkinson (Amherst) as Augustus Gloop, and Grayson Funk (Greenfield) as Mike TeaVee. The role of the Candy Man is sung by Rory Lambert-Wright (Amherst) and Ted Trobaugh (Amherst) lends his talent as Phineous Trout. The talented cast also includes Pam Plumer, Dawn Mayo, Kim Overtree, George Funk, Regina Diemand, Su Hoyle, Kate Filanowski, and Steve Woodard as the parents and grandparents. They are joined by an entertaining troupe of Oompa-Loompas and a chorus of teen dancers.

Favorite songs Pure Imagination, I’ve Got A Golden Ticket, and Candy Man are part of the tuneful score.
